Lily Rose Thomas is a director and writer based in London, interested in stories drawn from real life that sit at the intersection of comedy and tragedy.

From a photography background, Lily transitioned into the moving image via music videos. She then worked in video at i-D magazine as a researcher, gaining invaluable production experience, before leaving to focus on her directing career in 2017. Her first short film, Girls Who Drink, was released in 2018; an abstract study of three young women’s complex relationship with alcohol from the night before to the morning after. Written and directed by Lily, it was featured on the programme at BAFTA qualifying festivals LSFF, Underwire and Leeds Film Festival where it was in the competition, amongst others. Her second short film, Down, Down, Down, explores inherited alcoholism in three generations of women in one family. Starring Dolly Wells, Celia Imrie and Liv Hill is currently submitting to festivals and is being developed into a feature. Lily was selected as a BAFTA Connect Member for 2022/2023.
